Uses and preparation methods of neon gas
Main uses of neon gas:
1. Used in neon lights and as filling medium for electronic industry (e.g. high-voltage neon, counter tube, etc.).
2. Used for laser technology, making light indicator, voltage regulation and laser mixture.
3. A neon-oxygen mixture replaces helium and oxygen for breathing.
4. Used as cryogenic coolant, standard gas, special mixture, etc.
5. For high energy physics research, filling neon spark chamber for detection and particle behavior.
Preparation method of neon gas:
Air separation method: extraction of mixture of crude helium and neon gas from the air separation device by separation and condensation method. The pure neon helium with purity of 99.95% or above is obtained from the mixture of crude helium and neon after hydrogen and nitrogen removal, and 99.99% high purity neon can be obtained through separation and purification.
High pure NE neon is one with a purity of not less than 99.999%, i.e., less than 10x10-6 (volume fraction). The total amount of impurities in the gas supplied by industry is generally less than 100x10-6 (volume fraction). Therefore, to obtain high neon gas, the impurities must be removed below 10x10-6 (volume fraction) by further purification of industrial pure neon gas.
