Application of high purity sulfur hexafluoride gas
Sulfur hexafluoride has excellent electrical insulation, which is about 2.5 times of air and nitrogen. Sulfur hexafluoride has a very good arc extinguishing performance, its arc extinguishing ability is about 100 times that of air, and sulfur hexafluoride's chemical properties are very stable, so sulfur hexafluoride is widely used as insulating gas, such as sulfur hexafluoride relay, sulfur hexafluoride high-voltage circuit breaker, sulfur hexafluoride mutual conductivity sensor, sulfur hexafluoride lightning rod and so on.
The high purity sulfur hexafluoride gas is used in the plasma etching process of semiconductor industry towel and the isolation layer dopant in the manufacture of optical fiber. High purity sulfur hexafluoride gas is also an important laser material and has important applications in other fields.
In TFT-LCD panel plants and other microelectronics industries, high-purity sulfur hexafluoride gas is commonly used as cleaning gas and etching gas, and sulfur hexafluoride is also commonly used as doping agent for single-film optical fiber isolation layer in the production process of optical fiber.
In the smelting process of magnesium alloy and magnesium aluminum alloy, high purity sulfur hexafluoride gas or mixed gas of sulfur hexafluoride and nitrogen is often used as protective gas to prevent the oxidation of metal magnesium and its alloy by air.
In the medical profession, sulfur hexafluoride is also used in contrast-enhanced ultrasound, primarily for liver tumors. During ceUS, sulfur hexafluoride is mainly used as a safe contrast agent. After intravenous injection of sulfur hexafluoride, the gas dissolves in the blood, and half of the gas can be expelled by breathing every 12 minutes.
Sulfur hexafluoride gas is commonly used as a tracer in the field of air pollution monitoring and hydrogeology detection. Because sulfur hexafluoride is non-toxic, safe, stable in nature, reliable in inspection method, and low in content of air and water, etc., sulfur hexafluoride is often used as a gas tracer, and the missing range of sulfur hexafluoride can reach 100km.
Due to the stable properties of hexafluoride and its high molecular weight (sulfur hexafluoride molecular weight 146.06), its density is 5.11 times that of air. When it is filled into automobile tires or basketball or football, it will keep the pressure stable for a long time.
