Application of argon in continuous casting



At present, many continuous casting machines have adopted a basic technology which is widely used in modern continuous casting technology -- argon blowing protection casting.



Argon blowing protection generally includes two aspects: one is to seal the connection between the large ladle and the long nozzle and between the tundish immersion nozzle and the tundish to prevent air inhalation; the other is to blow argon before the injection of the tundish to prevent the molten steel from exposed in the air and causing the secondary oxidation of the molten steel.

In addition to sealing, argon has another important role in the pouring process -- preventing nodule formation.
