Problems related to hydrogen and fuel cells (2)

6. What was the first fuel cell electric vehicle to be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency?

1)Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicle

2)Ford Focus fuel cell car

General Motors developed the first publicly driven fuel cell electric vehicle in 1966. However, in 2002, the Honda FCX was the first fuel cell vehicle in the world to receive government certification from the Environmental Protection Agency. There are currently three types of fuel-cell vehicles produced: Honda Clarity, Toyota Mirae and Hyundai Tucson fuel-cell electric vehicles.

7. How do you refuel your fuel cell electric vehicle?

1)Insert the vehicle into the charging station

2)Hydrogen is pumped directly into the tank

3)Natural gas is pumped into the tank to produce hydrogen

To replenish the fuel cell electric vehicle, you pump hydrogen directly from the hydrogen filling station into the tank. Fuel cell electric vehicles can have a range of more than 300 miles on a single hydrogen tank. Since fuel cell systems are more than twice as efficient as internal combustion engines, you need half as much hydrogen.

8. Which country has the most hydrogen refueling stations?

California already has more than 50 hydrogen-filling stations (20 of them public), with funding for 100 planned. Hydrogen stations are also planned in the Northeast, where eight states have reached agreements to commit 3.3 million zero-emission vehicles, including FCEVs, by 2025.

9. How much of the mass of the known universe is composed of hydrogen?

Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. About 75% of all matter is made up of hydrogen.
