Argon is widely used in daily life (Part 2)

In industrial production, argon is often used as a shielding gas for welding or cutting metals: first, the loss of arc heat in argon is minimal due to the small heat capacity and conductivity of argon during welding. In the argon environment, the arc cools slowly, so the arc combustion is stable and can be maintained at a high level, which enables the welding to be completed efficiently. Secondly, since the ionization potential of argon is relatively low, the arc voltage required for welding is also relatively low. In this way, we can save energy by welding the same number of parts with less energy. Third, argon is more dense, about 1.4 times as dense as air. When the argon is ejected from the nozzle, a stable airflow layer can be formed. In addition, argon is denser than air and is not easy to be dispersed by air, so it can cover the metal surface stably and play a good role in protection.

Argon also has medical applications, such as argon knives. Argon plasma coagulation is the full name of argon plasma coagulation. This treatment method uses the ionization of argon plasma under the action of high-frequency current. The ionized argon plasma is conductive and can direct the current from the high-frequency output electrode to the tissue. This method not only avoids direct contact between the electrode and the tissue, but also ensures that the current can enter every corner of the tissue flexibly. The tissue will be inactivated and solidified by the thermal effect after the high-frequency current touches it. When treating the tumor, the doctor will choose argon knife as the treatment method according to the specific situation.

Argon gas is used to the medical industry

As a noble gas, argon is not rare in use. Although invisible and hard to touch, the properties of argon bring us a lot of convenience.
