The use of krypton gas ②
1) The important application of Krypton gas in electric light source
Krypton gas can be filled with advanced vacuum tubes, continuous ultraviolet lamps for laboratory use, etc. Krypton lamp can save electric energy, long service life, high luminous rate and small volume. For example, krypton lamp is an important light source in mine. Krypton gas can also be used to make atomic lamps that do not require electricity; The transmittance of the krypton lamp is very high, which can be used as the illumination light of the middle Vietnamese field vehicle and the runway light, etc. Krypton gas is also used in high pressure mercury vapor lamp, sodium lamp, zirconium point light source, flash lamp, strobe observer, voltage tube, counter discharge tube and gas relay.
2) The application of Krypton gas in scientific research and medical treatment
Krypton gas can be used to fill free (ionization) chambers for the measurement of high-energy rays (cosmic rays) and as a shading material for X-ray work; Krypton gas can be used in gas laser and plasma flow. Liquid krypton can be used in the bubble chamber of particle detector. Krypton radioisotopes can be used as tracers in medical applications. The krypton isotope K86 can be used as an international reference calibration element for length.
3) The application of Krypton gas in window glass manufacturing industry
The manufacturing industry of hollow glass Windows is a big consumption market of krypton gas. Nowadays, this use accounts for as much as 40% ~ 50% of the total krypton production. Air, argon and krypton are used in the production of double and three-layer hollow Windows. The lower the value of "U", the lower the heat transfer through the glass and the better the insulating performance of the window glass. In window insulation, krypton gas is usually mixed with argon to reduce costs. Today, argon and krypton, among other gases, make up more than 70 percent of all energy-efficient Windows. Argon and krypton and xenon conductivity was lower than those of the air, is also a double glazing, at 1/4 in (note: 1 = 25.4 mm) in the air layer in filling krypton, energy-saving effect is in 1/2 in air filling inside the air layer 2 times, thermal efficiency is higher than argon one-third of krypton, that is to say, in their thermal efficiency roughly the same conditions, the air layer of krypton only two-thirds of argon gas air layer spacing. The use of Krypton Windows in Europe's colder regions has grown rapidly in the past few years as the continent has established standards for energy efficiency.
