Use and safety protection of boron trichloride

Boron Trichloride is a colorless poisonous and corrosive gas with hay flavor and pungent odor at room temperature and pressure. Heavier than air. It doesn't burn in air. It is stabilized in anhydrous ethanol and decomposed in water or alcohol to form boric acid and hydrochloric acid. To give off an irritating, poisonous, acid mist in moist air. It reacts with phosphoane, arsenane, pyridine and nitrobenzene to form additive compounds. Liquid boron trichloride has a very low conductivity and has no tendency to ionize salts and strong acids when used as a solvent.

Boron trichloride can be used to manufacture high purity boron, catalyst for organic synthesis, flux for silicate decomposition, boron for iron and steel, dopant source for semiconductor, additive for deoxidizer, nitride and carbide in alloy refining. It can also be used to make boron nitride and borane compounds.

Respiratory protection: When the concentration of boron trichloride in the air exceeds the standard, wear self-suction filter gas mask (full cover). When emergency rescue or evacuation, it is recommended to wear oxygen respirator.

Eye protection: Respiratory protection has been provided.

Body protection: Wear rubber acid and alkali resistant clothing.

Hand protection: Wear rubber gloves.

Others: After work, shower and change clothes. Keep good hygiene.

Packing and storage: Double - necked glass bottle packing.
