Principle of leak detection of H2 and N2 mixture
Hydrogen and nitrogen mixture leak detection technology is a low cost, high efficiency and high precision leak detection method.
Metal hydride films are permeable only to hydrogen atoms. When the metal surface is heated, the hydrogen molecules are separated into atoms and absorbed by the film. The absorbed hydrogen atoms generate a small voltage, which is amplified by the amplifier and transmitted to the indicator.
A mixture of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen is a safe, non-flammable gas. It is a standard reduction protective gas used in steel making, so it is easy to buy mixed gases without mixing them yourself.
Compared with helium leak detection, the biggest advantage of hydrogen and nitrogen mixture leak detection technology is that the gas cost is low, which is only 1/10-1/20 of helium! As the supply of helium becomes scarcer and more expensive, the low cost advantage of hydrogen and nitrogen blends will become even greater.
In addition, hydrogen leak detector itself equipment costs less than helium leak detector, and the internal chamber without vacuum 蜯, mass spectrometry, filament, such as components, without maintenance every year. The combined cost is much lower than helium leak detection. Hydrogen and nitrogen mixture detection can quickly detect the leakage rate as low as 5*10-7 mBARl /s, which is the current development trend of leak detection technology.
