What materials can be welded by laser welding?

Compared with other welding technologies, laser welding is more efficient and precise. Therefore, with the innovation of laser welding technology, laser welding has attracted more and more attention. We all know that the range of laser welding is very wide, so what materials can laser welding be welded?

1. Laser welding of aluminum alloy

The main difficulty of aluminum and its aluminum-to-laser welding is its high reflectivity to 10. 8PON wavelength CO2 laser beam. Aluminum is a good conductor of heat and electricity, and its high density of free electrons makes it a good reflector of light, starting with surface reflectivity exceeding 90%, that is, the deep fusion welding must begin at a small 1000 10% energy input, which requires a very high input power to ensure the necessary power density at the beginning of the welding, and a small hole is generated.

2. Laser welding of magnesium alloy

The density of Mg alloys is 36% lower than Al, and Mg alloys are concerned as high specific strength materials. Therefore, pulse YAG laser and continuous C02 laser welding tests were carried out. For az31B-H244 alloy (3.27%Al, 0.79%Zn) with a plate thickness of 1.8mm, the best welding conditions with fewer defects were 0.8kW average power, 5ms, 120Hz, 300mm/s, focal size of 0.42mm, and good penetration weld was obtained by continuous C02 laser welding.

3. Low alloy high strength steel

For laser welding of low alloy and high strength steel, as long as appropriate welding parameters are selected, the joint with mechanical properties of base metal can be obtained. Hy-130 steel is a typical low alloy and high strength steel, which has high strength and high crack resistance. In the conventional welding method, the welding seam and HAZ structure are a stick combination of coarse crystal, partial fine crystal and original structure. The toughness and crack resistance of the joint are much worse than that of the base material. Moreover, the weld seam and HAZ metal structure are particularly sensitive to cold cracks in the welding state.
