Will helium prices fall in 2020?

It is well known that the supply of helium has been tight since last summer, with the market in short supply and the price of helium rising. This will continue until 2019, which means a lot of helium users!

How long will the price volatility last while many end users look for new alternatives?

There are several reasons for the helium fluctuation.

Internationally, the merger of Linde and Praxair in September 2018 affected the price of imported helium. In the US, the production of helium is reduced due to the suspension of maintenance equipment, which naturally affects the price of imported helium. Qatar's phase III helium purification project and Russia's Amur gas processing plant have not yet started production, straining resources.

From the domestic situation, our country has been helium - poor country, helium gas resources are very tight. Although abundant helium resources have been found in Weihe Basin and Dagang oilfield in Shaanxi, there are still great difficulties in exploration and production technology.

With its widespread use, the helium market is getting tighter. But helium users should not worry too much. Production is expected to increase in the second half of 2019 as U.S. plants resume production and Qatar and Russia begin production next year.
